Marshfield Select Board Votes to Grant $32,000 to Plymouth County Opioid Outreach Program

MARSHFIELD — June 29, 2026 — Marshfield Select Board awards $32,000 in opioid settlement funds to Plymouth County Outreach and clears a dense agenda of property deals and permits. The 2-0 vote came after Opioid Fund Committee member Mary Price and Plymouth County Outreach Executive Director Vicki Butler told the board the regional organization has driven a 61 percent reduction in fatal overdoses across the county since 2017 — from 147 deaths at peak to 58 last year — and that Marshfield has ranked among the top five hardest-hit communities for several years. The $32,000 is drawn from roughly $1.8 million in pharmaceutical litigation settlement funds Marshfield will receive through 2039, money restricted by law from entering the general budget. The board also voted 2-0 to approve a deed transfer of a one-acre parcel at 1929 Main Street to the Marshfield Municipal Affordable Housing Trust for eventual sale to South Shore Habitat for Humanity, and accepted a deed for 28.7 acres of marsh off Field Street for $50,000 funded through the Community Preservation Committee. The board honored retiring Deputy Fire Chief Tom Corbo, who served 32 years with the Marshfield Fire Department, and continued a liquor license transfer hearing for Mia Ragazza restaurant to a July 13 special meeting after a procedural posting issue was identified.
