MARSHFIELD — April 28, 2026 — Marshfield Town Meeting rejected a bid to repeal the town's MBTA zoning overlay district and approved a framework for a new finance director on the second night of the 2026 Annual Town Meeting. Articles 37 and 38, brought forward on a two-to-one Select Board vote by Selectman Eric Kelly, failed to reach the required two-thirds threshold after Town Counsel Robert Galvin read a letter from the Attorney General's Municipal Law Unit warning that repeal "would conflict with General Laws Chapter 40A, Section 3A's requirements," citing the 2025 SJC ruling in Attorney General v.
