Massachusetts Confirms First West Nile Case, Plymouth Risk Rises To Moderate

PLYMOUTH — Massachusetts health officials confirmed the state's first human case of West Nile virus this season on Friday, pushing Plymouth's mosquito-borne illness risk level to Moderate.

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health announced Friday that a man in his 90s, exposed in Middlesex County, is the state's first confirmed human West Nile virus case of the year. The announcement lists Plymouth's mosquito-borne illness risk level as Moderate for the remainder of the season.

Separately, the town announced it will host a Small Footprint Housing Public Forum in September, inviting residents to learn about compact housing options available in Plymouth. The town has not yet released a specific date or location for the session.
