Norwell Issues Wildfire Smoke Alert, Renews Town Job Push
NORWELL — Town Hall issued a wildfire smoke alert on Wednesday, its top News Flash notice of the day, while continuing a recruitment push for municipal openings and the public library rolled out a new laptop lending program.
TOWN HALL The town posted a "Wildfire Smoke Alert" on July 15 through its official News Flash feed; the notice did not specify a duration or additional precautions beyond the alert itself. Late the previous evening, the town promoted "Join Team Norwell," directing residents to the town's current employment-opportunities listings as part of an ongoing municipal hiring push. The notices follow last week's lifted boil-water order, announced by the town on July 11.
COMMUNITY & ARTS Norwell Public Library debuted a new Device Lending Program, adding four Dell Pro 14 laptops for in-library use and seven Dell Latitude touch-screen laptops available for take-home checkout; residents can call the library or visit the Main Desk to sign up. The library also said it was awarded a technology grant worth more than $35,000 through a state program. Separately, library officials confirmed that budget cuts will eliminate the library's seasonal Sunday hours, with details on the broader FY26 budget impact posted to the library's website alongside its July newsletter.
