Norwell Library Launches New Laptop Lending Program

Town officials announced the fourth annual Norwell Conservation Day is coming this month, while the Norwell Public Library rolled out a new device lending program for residents, giving the library new hardware to check out even as it navigates Sunday-hours cuts.

TOWN HALL

The town's News Flash feed on August 3 announced the fourth annual Norwell Conservation Day, encouraging residents to save the date for the event, though a specific date was not detailed in the release available today. The town has also flagged that the Town Clerk's office will be closed on August 6, 2026, a scheduling note residents planning to visit town hall should keep in mind.

Tier 4 water restrictions remain in effect for the town, a continuing measure first announced in June that residents should factor into outdoor watering plans this summer. The town also continues to advise residents about wildfire smoke alerts and cyclospora information posted in recent weeks, both still listed among active town notices.

COMMUNITY & ARTS

The Norwell Public Library announced a new Device Lending Program, offering four Dell Pro 14 laptops for in-library use and seven Dell Latitude touch-screen laptops available for take-home checkout. Residents can call the library or visit the Main Desk to learn more about borrowing the new equipment.

The library also highlighted that it was awarded a technology grant worth more than $35,000 through a state program, funding that appears connected to the new laptop offerings. The library's July newsletter, available on its website, provides further detail on programming and the budget picture shaping this year's services.

COMING UP

The library's Events Calendar continues to list ongoing Children's, Teen, and Adult events throughout August; residents can consult the calendar on the library's website for specific dates and times. The Town Clerk's office will be closed on August 6, 2026, and in-person early voting for the state primary election remains underway at town hall in the days ahead.
