Marshfield Town Meeting approved a $7 million Proposition 2.5 override article after passing a $121.4 million baseline budget. Moderator Jim Fitzgerald declared the 3C article passed on a show of hands, and a request for a standing count was declined. Acting Town Administrator Peter Morin said the average $805,000 home would pay about $620 more, on top of roughly $255 from the baseline budget.
School Committee Chair Sean Costello said "when the house is on fire, you don't wait to see what caused it before you put it out." The override is contingent on a ballot question the Select Board must schedule. Members also passed a $1,729,352 capital budget and three enterprise fund articles.
