BRIDGEWATER — The Bridgewater Tree Committee voted to authorize its tree warden to finalize species and sites for six new street trees on Broad Street. Tree Warden Brian recommended northern red oak after members rejected earlier ginkgo and shingle oak proposals, with absent member Steve still to weigh in by email. "I want trees that are going to be resistant to the conditions that are there," Brian said.
The committee also confirmed six lindens are ready for planting on the town common pending DigSafe utility clearance, expected within about two weeks. Members tabled decisions on a proposed adopt-a-tree program and website expansion to a future meeting, citing Department of Public Works staffing limits. All votes, including approval of the September 8 minutes and adjournment, passed unanimously by voice.
