Water board OKs $700,000 sewer design contract
Water · Meeting of August 25, 2026
Kingston Water Commissioners commit $700,000 to advance sewer design for three areas, including a manufactured-home community. The board unanimously hired CDM Smith for 50 percent design, permitting and borings covering Town & Country, Marion Drive and Pottle Street, with the milestone expected by next spring. Town & Country board president Steve Delano said the 212-unit co-op spends about $130,000 a year on wastewater and $65,000 on water, with $177,000 reserved for emergencies, while members pay $495 a month and would need a two-thirds vote to approve any sewer assessment.
Commissioners also voted to send Duxbury a letter, with a PFAS report attached, stating "there's no mechanical way" the treatment plant's effluent could affect drinking water, and voted to temporarily rehire operator Bob Monaghan to cover an eight-week staffing gap.
