Bridgewater Disability Commission keeps Zoom meetings, preps storm forum

Other Committee · Meeting of August 25, 2026

Bridgewater Disability Commission splits 3-2 to stick with Zoom-only meetings through winter. Commissioners approved their July minutes unanimously and finalized an October 7 presentation to residents of Hyde Pond Estate, an over-55 community, including a 14-card, $70 Dunkin' Donuts raffle split among four members. The commission also locked in a September 29 storm-preparedness forum with Police Chief Del Monte and a yet-to-be-confirmed fire official, planning to ask how the town tracks and prioritizes residents with disabilities during weather emergencies.

Several members said they have never received robocall storm alerts. Commissioner Lorraine reported that Bridgewater's general ordinances contain no independent definition of a service animal, only an ADA-based fee waiver: "No fee shall be charged for the licensure of a service animal as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act."
