West Bridgewater Planning Board Continues Horsepower Road Subdivision Hearing to June 17

WEST BRIDGEWATER — May 20, 2026 — West Bridgewater Planning Board opens and continues hearing on Horsepower Road industrial subdivision. The board voted unanimously May 20 to open a public hearing on a definitive subdivision application filed by J.K. Holmgren Engineering on behalf of MJM Construction Corp., which seeks to improve roughly 800 feet of Spring Street and construct the new Horsepower Road to provide legal frontage for a landlocked 42-acre industrial parcel off Walnut Street. Engineer Scott Farrier described a 26-foot paved road within a 33-foot layout, with a detention basin to manage stormwater, and said the DPW and fire department have requested a looped water main connecting through a utility easement at the end of the Pearl Road cul-de-sac. Pearl Road resident Justin Howard cited 19 reported crashes at the Walnut Street curve since 2020 and noted the school bus contractor refuses the route because of dangerous geometry; neighbor Matthew Spadley said an industrial truck facility with no buffer "is 100 percent going to devalue my house directly." The board continued the hearing to June 17, 2026, at 7:00 p.m., directing the engineering team to submit written responses to peer-reviewer Patrick Brennan's comments and revised plans incorporating the water main loop.
