Brockton Swears In Seven New Police Officers Before City Council

BROCKTON — January 20, 2026 — Brockton swears in seven newly graduated police academy officers before the City Council. The January 20 ceremony, which opened the council meeting, saw Janessa Soares, Maldene Montero, Eugenia Lopes, Fatima Lopes, Leandra Montero, Celiana Guante, and Javinsky Bayless each administered a three-part oath by the City Clerk covering allegiance to the Commonwealth, faithful performance of duties under city ordinances, and support of the United States Constitution. The Police Chief addressed the new officers and their families before the swearing-in, telling the recruits they have "an opportunity each and every single day and every moment of your career to make a difference in one of our residents' lives." One council member, as officers signed the oath book, quipped, "Let's get some grant money now to pay you."
