Conservation · Meeting of September 22, 2026
Halifax Conservation Commission elects John Gill chair, clears pond-side septic upgrade. The board unanimously issued a negative determination for a septic replacement at 2 Third Avenue, designed by engineer Shane McCullough with a 1,500-gallon tank set 73 feet from wetlands, conditioned on an agent inspection of silt fencing before digging. Members also approved two certificates of compliance for 496 Thompson Street, DEP files SE1710180 and SE1710196, and continued a Notice of Intent hearing for 16 Old Summit Street to October 13 pending a neighbor's signature.
In its annual reorganization, the board elected John Gill chair, kept Paul Doucette as vice chair, and named Steve Goodman secretary in place of Peggy Seltzer. "We asked for and received a number of variances from the town," McCullough told the board. Members also approved the September 8 minutes and the month's bills.
