Conservation Board Orders Deck Moved From Seawall
Conservation · Meeting of September 21, 2026
Scituate conservation panel orders a seawall deck moved back and tightens coastal building rules. The Conservation Commission, chaired by Frank Snow, unanimously approved an amended order of conditions for a deck at 50 Oceanside Drive only after requiring it sit five feet from the seawall rather than the proposed 18 inches, with commissioner Eric calling the original plan "ill-advised." The board also continued a roof-over-deck project at 55 Rebecca Road to December 7 pending stamped structural plans, after commissioner Robbie warned "somebody's gonna attach some walls to that roof." Commissioners closed a stormwater hearing for a multi-unit project at 165 Stockbridge Road represented by Hancock Associates, with peer reviewer Janet Bernardo of Horsley & Whitten confirming a culvert upsize to 12 inches. The panel also cleared removal of a dozen dead ash trees at 49 Mordecai Lincoln Road, estimated at $10,000 to $16,000, and formally accepted a state-approved conservation restriction.
