Finance Committee · Meeting of June 18, 2026

Duxbury Finance Committee approved $188,333 in year-end budget transfers and a $37,800 reserve fund draw to staff the town beach through an extended piping plover closure. Finance Director Mary McKinnon said the year-end transfers, which still need Select Board approval, shift surplus money from snow and ice, facilities and veterans accounts into utility-strapped pool, library and Council on Aging lines. Recreation Director Steve Steadley said plover nesting has kept two of three beach crossovers closed, requiring roughly 30 extra staffing days at $1,500 a day, calling it "a good problem to have." McKinnon said the pool posted a $92,000 net loss this year, down from $165,000 last year, on $321,000 in revenue against $413,000 in expenses.

The committee also got an update on $2.9 million in seawall betterments billed to 95 properties after the $14.8 million project's completion.
