East Bridgewater Finance Committee Approves $75,000 School Heating Transfer, Four Unanimous Votes

EAST BRIDGEWATER — June 18, 2026 — East Bridgewater Finance Committee approves $75,000 reserve fund transfer to cover school heating and gas deficit. The committee voted unanimously on all four actions at its June 18 meeting, also approving a $42,100 end-of-year budget reallocation across more than a dozen municipal accounts, a $6,680.51 reserve fund transfer for police cruiser drivetrain repairs — negotiated down from $8,500 by a fleet maintenance supervisor working with Colonial Ford — and a reserve fund transfer of an undisclosed amount for a protective net at the police parking lot after baseballs from the adjacent high school field damaged police and personal vehicles. Chair David Walsh said the school heating deficit originally stood at roughly $150,000 before internal adjustments reduced it by half, and that the town will restructure utility budgeting for fiscal year 2027 to prevent recurrence, moving heating and energy costs into the town-wide budget rather than the Department of Public Works facilities allocation. The town also recently received $183,000 in state winter recovery reimbursement funds.
