Halifax Planning Board orders engineer review of unapproved storage facility site changes
Planning Board · Meeting of March 5, 2026
Halifax Planning Board orders engineer review of storage facility after unapproved site changes. The board voted unanimously Thursday to direct review engineer Pat Brennan to assess point-by-point modifications made at 318 Plymouth Street — a storage facility project — without prior board approval, including grade reductions of up to three feet across the site, a relocated septic system, roof design changes, and repositioned fire hydrants. Board member Amy True said the changes "should have come in with a site plan modification before it is actually done," and Chair Tom Alias noted the applicant would bear the cost of the additional review.
The board also pressed Leaders developer representative Darren Welday on the unfinished 314 Plymouth Street mixed-use project, tying any certificate of occupancy to road completion, ADA-compliant sidewalk reconstruction, removal of a non-compliant entrance median, and finalization of a roughly $200,000 bond for a temporary traffic signal that is wired but not yet activated.
