Health Agent Resigns, Board Sets Three-Week Job Search

Board of Health · Meeting of September 22, 2026

East Bridgewater's health agent resigns effective immediately, leaving the Board of Health scrambling for coverage. Chair Rob Lyons told the board Monday the agent, identified only as Mike, quit at 4:30 p.m. that day, cutting short a planned transition period. The board, with Vice Chair Tom Duquette Jr. and Clerk Andrew Hudson, set a three-week window to post the job and aims to hire by mid-to-late October.

Members are pursuing informal coverage from Bridgewater, Middleborough and Brockton while a resident, Peter, pressed the board on who will witness scheduled percolation tests in the meantime. The board still approved four septic system variances and a full slate of routine 2026 licenses, including for Installer Excavation Incorporated, NIC Edwards Landscaping and the annual Chili Chowder Fest, all by unanimous voice vote. "It's definitely a loss for East Bridgewater," one member said of the departure.
