Board of Health delays septic hearing over acreage dispute
Board of Health · Meeting of September 8, 2026
Plympton Board of Health stalls septic rehearing pending legal review. Resident Ken Thompson, who has spent about $85,000 and four years chasing a septic permit for a Crescent Street lot, pressed the board for a status update, but members said they must consult town counsel Greg Corvo before rescheduling his hearing, since his two-parcel lot is linked only by a narrow "umbilical" connection that may not satisfy the local Title 5 rule requiring five contiguous acres. Vice Chair Jared Anderson said draft regulation changes would leave the acreage rule untouched while adding a stricter nitrogen-dilution standard of 10 milligrams per liter.
The board also agreed to let septic contractor Wind River Environmental report Title 5 water-test results by email instead of phone.
