Planning Board approves coffee shop at former bank
Bridgewater's Planning Board approved a site plan and special permit converting a vacant bank at 110 Main Street into a drive-thru coffee shop.
Planning Board · Meeting of October 21, 2026
Bridgewater's Planning Board approved a site plan and special permit converting a vacant bank at 110 Main Street into a drive-thru coffee shop. The board voted 5-0 to approve Society Coffee Bar's project, which will add parking from 17 to 25 spaces and reduce two drive-thru lanes to one; engineer Scott Adams said the design includes "320 linear feet of queue length between the pickup area and the ordering area." Owner Keith Viveris said it would be the chain's fifth location, with 39 seats, following branches in Taunton, Somerset and New Bedford, Massachusetts, and East Providence, Rhode Island. A nearby resident objected that "I don't see a need for the alcohol in the hands of college kids." The board separately approved, unanimously, a bumper-car addition at Crisco's Market, a drainage modification at the Hilton Garden Inn site at Lakeshore Center, and a lot release at the Sprague's Place subdivision.
