Planning Board Approves Modified Norwell Avenue ADU
Planning Board · Meeting of September 24, 2026
Scituate Planning Board approves a reworked Norwell Avenue ADU after a fence dispute surfaces at the hearing. Chair Patricia Lambert led a four-member board, with Member Maura Burke absent, approving applicant Diane Dymek's shift from a detached to an attached 526.5-square-foot ADU at 75 Norwell Avenue under a dozen conditions, including a short-term-rental ban. Abutter Marianne Lewis, who said she has "always advocated for and been supportive of the concept of ADUs," asked the board to require a shared fencing agreement; members called it "a private matter" for the neighbors to work out themselves.
Separately, the board granted applicant James Trenz a continuance on the 18-20 Country Way project to December 10, extending the town's decision deadline to January 31, 2027. The town planner told the board there is "no path forward" for crediting an unnamed project toward Scituate's Subsidized Housing Inventory.
