Planning Board closes hearing, sets Oct. 19 solar vote
Planning Board · Meeting of September 28, 2026
Wareham Planning Board closes hearing on remanded Fearing Hill Road solar project, sets October 19 vote. Chair Jane Gleason and members voted 3-0, with Sam Corbitt abstaining, to close the long-running hearing on the 91 and 101 Fearing Hill Road array after a Land Court remand, over objections from RWE Clean Energy's Joe Shanahan, who argued the board should "vote tonight" under the order's "as soon as possible" language. The board, sworn in new member Jessica Parr the same night, also voted unanimously to recommend the town explore acquiring roughly 300 acres of Chapter 61A bog land on Maple Springs Road for conservation, and to let a Pierceville Road parcel exit Chapter 61A for a seven-lot subdivision.
A Bay Pointe developer withdrew a bond-release request after the board said he had "done such de minimis work" it wouldn't warrant releasing funds.
