Scituate Conservation Commission Clears North Scituate Sewer Expansion for Permitting

SCITUATE — July 20, 2026 — Scituate Conservation Commission closes hearing on North Scituate sewer expansion, advancing the project toward a spring 2027 construction start. The commission voted unanimously to issue an order of conditions for the town's North Scituate Sewer Expansion (DEP#068-3246), a four-mile, 6,000-linear-foot low-pressure and gravity sewer system that will take properties off failing on-site septic and reduce nitrogen and pathogen loading to Bound Brook and adjacent salt marshes. Dan Scott of Woodard & Curran said the project is "very exciting for the town" and that construction is expected to run two full seasons through a November 2027 winter moratorium, with final paving in spring 2029. The commission also closed hearings on 8 Three Ring Road (septic replacement) and 9 Pond View Ave. (porch and after-the-fact patio), and conditionally closed 2 Country Club Circle after applicant Robert Stachura agreed on the record to remove a brick patio that had encroached into the wetland beyond the property's rear fence. The Cole Parkway gazebo rebuild was continued to September 9 after Commissioner Robbie Gould said he was "not on board with the foundation system" due to the volume of excavation required near the waterfront, and commissioners flagged unresolved ADA accessibility and flood-zone compliance questions.
