WHITMAN — July 14, 2026 — Whitman Select Board sets August 4 town administrator interviews amid screening dispute. Chair Justin Evans announced the board will hold formal candidate interviews on August 4 at 6 p.m., with August 11 as a fallback, after a working group reviewed applications from six candidates. Member Dawn Donahue objected that IT Director Josh McNeil and Assistant Town Administrator Matt Dyer joined the screening process without full board authorization, saying she "almost can't trust" the chair to follow through on board decisions. Evans said including Dyer, who will work closely with the new hire, and McNeil, the town's longest-tenured department head, "seemed like an important fit." Water and Sewer Superintendent Dave LeMay told the board Whitman averages roughly 320 million gallons annually under a 365-million-gallon annual cap in its contract with Brockton, with nearly 19 million gallons of additional flow projected from projects already in progress or proposed — a margin that narrows sharply if large developments at 66 Pond Street and 185 Franklin Street move forward.
