ZBA Grants Two Permits, Continues Rocky Woods Hearing
Zoning Board · Meeting of September 24, 2026
Lakeville ZBA continues 199-home Rocky Woods hearing after tribal, water pushback. The board, chaired by John Olivieri Jr., voted 4-1 to grant Jonathan Dinault a special permit for an oversized garage and unanimously approved a garage addition for board Associate Anthony Zucco, who recused himself as applicant. The bulk of the meeting centered on Simmons Hill LLC's revised 320-acre, 199-unit subdivision, formerly called Rocky Woods, which now includes 58 age-restricted units and a new County Street access requiring MassDOT and MEPA review.
Mashpee Wampanoag Tribal Chief Earl Mills Jr. read a letter calling the site "a sacred place for Wampanoag people," and a Narragansett tribal representative cited PFAS and archaeological concerns. Residents pressed for independent hydrologic studies near a protected wellhead area. The board voted unanimously to continue the hearing to October 15, with a further session set for November 19.
