Committee OKs Fall Goals, Field Trip, Bus Rates

School Committee · Meeting of September 28, 2026

Hingham School Committee flags ballot vote as storms test aging roofs. Weekend storm damage caused significant roof leaks at South School and Hingham High School, prompting cleanup by Director of Facilities Matt Meehan's team, Superintendent Roberts told the committee Monday. Member Carrie Nee reminded the community that the three building-project warrant articles headed to the October 29 special town meeting also require a separate ballot vote, saying "it needs to pass at the ballot, too." The committee unanimously approved its 2026-2027 goals, a 20-student Harvard Model UN trip for January 28-31, 2027, and new transportation rates running from $55 to $105 an hour depending on group and distance.

On the School Building Committee, updated MSBA reimbursement figures pushed the estimated town cost for the Plymouth River project up by roughly $1.4 million.
