Conservation Board Approves Snow Park Turf Field
Conservation · Meeting of September 16, 2026
Brockton conservation board clears synthetic turf field for Snow Park after third review. The Conservation Commission voted 6-0, with Commissioner Curtis abstaining, to issue an order of conditions for the city's new synthetic turf soccer field at Snow Park, after engineer Scott Ferry of Homegrown Engineering added a retaining wall to preserve flood storage and the commission's consultant, Weston and Sampson, recommended PFAS testing of the turf material. Mayor Rodriguez told the board "we in the city cannot afford to have a gazillion fields, so we can probably afford just to have one," citing Brockton's semi-pro soccer teams that currently play home games outside the city.
The board separately voted unanimously to let new property owner Barnhart Crane and Rigging store a 500-gallon diesel tank in a wetlands buffer at 127 Liberty Street, and voted unanimously to deny a certificate of compliance at a Davis Commons building on Dunbar Street after its two underground sediment basins failed to drain properly, directing the applicant toward an amended order of conditions.
