Conservation Commission Approves Third Phase of Manley Street Commercial Development

WEST BRIDGEWATER — February 17, 2026 — West Bridgewater Conservation Commission approves third phase of Manley Street commercial development and warns Elm Street homeowner over illegal wetland coop. At its February 17 meeting, the commission voted unanimously to close the public hearing and issue an order of conditions, a 50-foot buffer zone waiver, and a general order for a commercial building at 600 Manley Street, where engineer Scott D'Aria of Homeward Engineering presented revised plans showing 9,000 square feet of wetland replication against 4,400 square feet of fill — a ratio slightly above the required 2-to-1. At least one commissioner voiced opposition during deliberation, citing past unauthorized truck washing on the property and predicting that overhead-door bays would be used for truck parking beyond what permits envision, though no member moved to block the project. Separately, the commission gave a homeowner at 245 North Elm Street until April 15 to relocate a chicken coop placed in a protected wetland area, warning that a $5,600 fine remains possible if the structure is not moved by May.
