Lakeville Conservation Commission approves Long Pond septic repair and stalls cranberry farm home bid pending Army Corps ruling. The commission voted unanimously Tuesday to issue an order of conditions for a bottomless sand filter septic repair at 8 Beech Street Drive for owners Laura and Michael Nashwady, adding a condition barring vehicles and construction equipment from a bordering vegetative wetland across the street, with the order held until a May 9 Natural Heritage and Endangered Species Program deadline passes. A separate notice of intent for a single-family home on a cranberry farm off Montgomery Street and Greenlot Circle was continued to May 12 after engineers Kevin Davis and Azoua De Niro of ET Engineering acknowledged they had not yet obtained an Army Corps of Engineers determination on whether a 9,075-square-foot bog the applicant proposes to partially fill is upland or jurisdictional wetland, a finding that commission member Joseph Chamberlain noted is legally required before the commission, limited to 5,000 square feet of wetland alteration, can act.

The commission also issued two certificates of compliance for long-dormant orders at 4 Long Circle and directed Conservation Agent Mark Minton to issue siltation controls to a Clark Shores homeowners association whose boat ramp wood chip clearing threatened to wash into a pond ahead of Thursday rain.
